General FAQ

You can call or email us at any time. The earlier the better. Unlike almost any other home care provider, we always try to see our Clients before we start providing home care. If you can give us a few days notice to give us a chance to do a detailed assessment and allows the family to meet us and ask questions that may have.

Do I have to sign a long term contract?
No. You may cancel your services with us at anytime. We require 24 hours notice to cancel service without a fee.
Yes. We often find that families want, or need supplemental care. Facilities, much as they may like to, often are not able to provide the level of care our Clients are comfortable with. We work with the their staff to ensure that our clients receive the level and quality of care they expect, and are entitled to.
No. Our in-home consultation is free, and is completely without obligation. You are not required to book service after a consultation if you feel that Happy Hearts is not the right choice for you.

We offer a wide range of Home Care Services including personal care, companionship, meal preparation, medication reminder, housekeeping,
dementia care and fall prevention.

What happens if we need less care than we thought or have fully recovered?
Our goal is for our Clients to maintain independence, experience joyful living and receive the highest quality care possible. If that results in our Clients no longer needing our care, then that is the perfect outcome. We have a twenty four hour cancellation notice requirement, but apart from that, you are free to amend or cancel your care at anytime.
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. The minimum number of hours start at 3 hours per week for Personal Care, usually plan on 1 hr per visit for shower or dressing. Meal Preparation, Homemaking & Companionship usually take 2 hours per visit. Transportation and accompany to Appointments and Events is a minimum 3 hours. We can also provide care up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with some notice.

Do you offer Nursing Services?
Services such Medication Administration, Intravenous Therapy, Home Infusion Services, Dressing Changes, Ventilator Care, Pain & Symptom Management, Chronic Disease Management, Serious Injury Care, Post Surgical Care, Basic and Advanced Foot Care we work with AHS.

Do you offer Palliative Care, End-of-Life Care or Medical Assistance in Dying??
No, not at this time. We believe there are many fine facilities that are better equipped to meet these needs. We can arrange for 24 hour companionship.
Costs & Funding FQA

Each care plan is customized to suit your needs. Service times differ based on the services you require but our base family funded rate is $37. We will help you determine the right care for you or your aging loved ones.

Are home care services tax deductible?
Under certain conditions, home care services are tax deductible. We recommend you check with your tax advisor or Revenue Canada to determine if you qualify for a tax deduction.
Every insurance policy is different, but we can help you to determine if our services are covered under your current plan, Manulife, Sunlife, Desjardins and Canada Life.
Yes! We are an approved provider & will direct bill BlueCross for your Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI).
